Radiothon is a wrap for 2016! Our goal for this year was to replace both operating tables for the OR suites at Cypress Regional Hospital as well as the defibrillator for the OR suites. We are very grateful to all those who contributed to Radiothon, and helped us to improve the surgical possibilities for the Cypress Health Region. These new tables will open up possibilities for new surgical techniques for our surgeons, the new techniques in turn should allow for a shorter healing time for patients, and a shorter amount of time in surgery. If you would still like to donate to help purchase this important equipment, call 306-778-3314 or click on the donate button at the bottom of this page.
Of course we would like to extend our gratitude to a number of people who made Radiothon run as smoothly as it did. Without donations, we don't have a Radiothon, so thank you not only to our generous supporters and donors, but to the people who were responsible for taking those donations. Our phone bank was manned throughout Radiothon to accept donations from those who called in as well as those who came to donate in person. Thank you to Swift Current & District Ambulance service (pictured at right), Pharmasave, Vision Care Clinic, Swift Current Association of Realtors, Innovation Credit Union, Living Sky Casino, Cypress Health Region managers, and our own Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation board members!
A big thank you also goes out to our sponors! Pharmasave was our title sponsor once again for the 'Pharmasave Your Family's Health Radiothon' and we thank them for their continued support. Also sponsoring this year was Living Sky Casino (pictured at left), Swift Current & District Ambulance Service, Swift Current Eagles Club, Great West Auto Electric and Innovation Credit Union! To all who sponsored, thank you for helping to make a difference for surgical patients and staff in the Cypress Health Region.
A terrific addition to every single Radiothon is the talent that local performers come out and share with us as part of the broadcast. This live entertainment is often enjoyed by patients who are in care at Cypress Regional Hospital. This year our performers were outstanding yet again. We wish to thank, Denise Wall, League of Wolves (pictured at right), Mark Penner and Paula McGuigan, Marc Ruel, Roberta Essex and Glenna Switzer for sharing their talents and their time to add a special touch to our broadcast!
An interesting addition to Radiothon this year came in the form of a 49 year old car. This beautiful 1967 Lincoln Continental convertible came to us from the Running family. Years ago the Ford dealership in Swift Current was run by Jackson Running and he and his wife had a tremendous car collection. This well cared for convertible is from that collection. On Friday of Radiothon we opened it up to phone-in bids on the Lincoln and when the dust settled, the final bid came in from Regina at $11,100. It was an exciting and interesting way for us to add to our Radiothon total, thanks to the Running family, and all those who bid!
This year putting the FUN in fundraising, we developed the Fun Muddy Mayhem, an 11 - station, team obstacle course with proceeds to Radiothon. Fourteen teams answered the call and took on the Waterslide, Ambulance Pull, Sandbag Carry, Tire Flip, Pole Carry, Culvert Crawl, Over Under, Bale Wall, Monkey Bars, Wall Climb, and most important... the MUD Crawl. Teams of 5 were required to come up with $500 (either paid or gathered in sponsor pledges) to participate, some of our teams went above and beyond and as a result we had nearly $10,000 raised to contribute to Radiothon. A big thanks to sponsors and all who helped bring this about, including Robertson Rentals, Wallace Construction, Black Bridge Brewery, A.J. Harlick Earthmoving, Safeway, Elmwood Golf Course, Quality Tire, City of Swift Current, the Iron Office, and Cypress Health Region. Look for the Fun Muddy Mayhem again next year as a way to get dirty, have fun, and Keep Healthcare Strong!
