Our friends in the Swift Current Greek Orthodox Community wrote another chapter in a remarkable story of supporting healthcare in Swift Current when they hosted the 17th annual ‘Night Out in Greece’. It was an outstanding festival of Greek culture featuring authentic greek dishes, dancing, and music and the unique experiences of the stomping of the grapes and the smashing of the plates.
First of all, it was another very successful year of fundraising. Between tickets, silent auction, live auction, and evening sponsors, $35,550 was raised to assist with health care in southwest Saskatchewan. The proceeds from the evening were designated towards long-term care in Swift Current, and will be used to help furnish and equip these new homes. In fact the amount raised will look after the cost of a long-term care room and more.
It would be a difficult task to determine exactly how many hours of preparation is needed every year to organize, decorate, plan, and prepare the food. It is an enormous amount of work and it is a very substantial gift that we have all benefitted from. To all involved in making this a successful event, Thank You! Your hard work and dedication has provided for over $800,000 in medical equipment for the Cypress Health Region. This includes, $33,000 for renal dialysis equipment; $27,454 for infant care equipment; $250,000 to fund the Cardiac Care Unit at Cypress Regional Hospital; $75,000 to the digital mammography unit as well as numerous other purchases such as prostate care equipment and hospital beds. The Foundation speaks for all those in the southwest who have benefitted from the generosity of our Greek community when we say, Thank you!
