Scholarships are awarded to those delivering health care services within the Southwest who are employed by the regional healthcare authority. The three categories for which funding assistance may be sought are Tuition/Registration and Material Reimbursement; Assistance for Educational Leave, and In-House Training Program Assistance There are two rounds of awards per year and $45,000 has been allocated for scholarships in each year. The scholarship program, in addition to corporate and individual sponsorship contributions, is supported by the Lee/Irwin Educational Endowment which was established in December, 2001. Front-line staff will be able to apply for assistance by completing appropriate forms and having a recommendation from their department head. All applications will have to be submitted to the Foundation administrator who will forward them to the Education Committee. The Education Committee will review all applications and make their recommendations to the Foundation Board. The official Foundation Skills Enrichment Scholarship Program outline is available by clicking here. Lee/Irwin Educational Endowment The Dr. Noble Irwin Healthcare Foundation, at its annual meeting in 2001, announced the creation of the Lee/Irwin Educational Endowment. Established with the generosity of Jack and Louise Lee of Calgary, the fund was named in memory of Lam Lee, and Dr. Noble and Irene Irwin. Funds from this Endowment will support the Foundation's Skills Enrichment Scholarship program. Scholarships will be available to provide financial assistance for training and the continuing education for health region employees delivering front line health care services. The significant investment made by the Lees to improve the quality of healthcare for residents of Southwest Saskatchewan will ensure that funding will always be available to support the educational needs of our health care employees. The Foundation is profoundly grateful to Jack and Louise for establishing the Lee/Irwin Educational Endowment with an initial contribution valued at $269,075 and subsequently assuring a further donation through Facet Resources Ltd. The value of their investment in the educational endowment fund currently exceeds $400,000 and is generating thousand of dollars to support future scholarship awards. Be a scholarship fund sponsor We welcome inquiries and participation from corporations and individuals interested in sponsoring our Skills Enrichment Scholarship Fund. Corporate sponsorship entails an investment of $50,000 payable as a single donation, or in $10,000 annual installments over five years. The Scholarship Fund will be named, for the duration of the partnership, for the corporate sponsor. The corporate sponsor, in addition to having its name incorporated in the program title, will be widely recognized in promotional material for both the scholarship fund and The Foundation. A scholarship board incorporating the sponsor name and logo will be placed in the Swift Current Regional Hospital. Award sponsorship, an investment of $10,000 payable as a single donation, or in $2,000 annual installments over five years, will provide the sponsor with a category award designation, i.e. Smith Family Distance Education Award. Award sponsors will be acknowledged in Foundation reports and newsletters, and will be invited to the Foundation annual general meeting where awards will be symbolically presented to recipients. Both the corporate sponsor and award sponsors will receive tangible tokens of appreciation, suitable for public display. All sponsors will be provided the first opportunity to renew their sponsorship for the second five-year phase of the program. If you are interested in discussing scholarship fund sponsorship opportunities, please call our offices 306-778-3314, or contact us through our online form. |
